wavebreaker recently posted a link to a political quiz that lets you see how you match up with the various candidates, on the issues. I have to admit I've mostly been sticking my head in the sand for this election so far, coming up occasionally to opine about how great it'd be to have a woman president or a minority president. But I haven't really looked at where candidates stand on the issues of the election. Since this site references/cites the candidates' own websites and platforms, it's easier to sort that out now. Seems like a good place for me to start, anyway.

Woohoo for heads in the sand!

I made a conscious decision to ignore the presidential campaign until 08 because I'm tired of the never ending campaign cycle.

Jan 01 of the year the election takes place seems like a sensible time for anyone who doesn't want to do the early stuff or work on a political campaign to start expending cycles on this

How'd you get it to spit out those percentages?

I came out more fiscally liberal on this quiz than I normally do. I wonder if that's a function of the quiz or if I've shifted.

On the graph page, I clicked on the pencil indicating my own views. (When you hover over that, it says "analyse your position" and if you click on it it gives you all of the percentages.) You can also click on various candidates to analyze (or analyse, if you prefer) their positions.

we seem to have very similar politics. that is right about where the quiz pegged me, too.

The dartboard thing pegged me right on Obama's nose, and the numbers thing puts me at equally left/right economically and 1% more traditional (you radical leftist, you). Substantive agreement of only 74% tho - bill richardson was the highest at 76.
