I survived my first week at the new job. I made some mistakes, but I think they were not awful ones, and I think I understand how to not make them again.

I'm so tired, though. And I really need to get a lot of homework done this weekend. Especially since I am going to MN on Thursday. I have to admit mixed feelings about this trip. I am really happy to see people there, and it seems like I've been waiting forever to get to a MN Rollergirls bout. But I have so much homework to do, and having just started this new job it seems like a bad time to go anywhere. Well, the tickets are purchased; I'm going. I will try to find a way to balance my time having fun with the work I have to accomplish.

I ordered my graduation cripcrap, I mean, regalia. If I'm not mistaken, I just paid around $75 for the privelige of renting a bunch of stuff. I don't think I even get to keep the hood. Not that I'd know what to do with it, but still.

you didn't have to rent your regalia for your undergrad graduation? I'm sure you could buy the hood if you wanted to, but save that expense for when you're a professor somewhere or you'll never have a chance to wear it.

it'll be great to see you, darlin'.

Hey, good usage of "cripcrap". Anyway, we happen to have a Masters' gown that we can lend you if it'd help. Let me know.

Thanks! I think I have to have the bright blue AU commencement gown, and I've already paid for it, so I won't take you up on it, but I appreciate the offer.

Oh, I rented my regalia for my undergrad graduation. I just know that the undergrad stuff costs $39 or so, and grad costs $75. As far as I know the difference is largely in the hood. Twice as much to rent one additional small piece? Weird. Eh, whatever.

It'll be great to see you, too!

P.S. Maybe I should wear a giant sombrero instead of a mortarboard. What do you think?

I think you would be dashing in a giant sombrero. you have always had a high sense of style.

I don't know how I keep missing your posts...

But I'm glad the job is going well. Is it possible to see you sometime this weekend? I miss you!

:-)
I have very little in the way of plans so far. We arrive Thursday afternoon; we have brunch plans Friday late-morning; Rollergirls (I think that's Saturday?), and nothing else. So yes, it'd be great to see you. I hope the cell # I have for you is still right..?

Yay!

My cell is still the same. For some reason I don't have your cell number, so give me a call or shoot me an email or text with it. :)
