Friday was a lot of fun. I went to a happy hour with some gals from work, which was a very good time and lasted quite a bit more than an hour. And it was at the Happy Gnome, which has great beer and food. I had a dark beer that tasted slightly of bananas and cloves. (I think it was a Dunkel weiss style of beer from Colorado, but I don't remember the name of the brewery.) It was quite delicious and fascinating...
And then I proceeded on to another happy hour with some friends at the Bulldog, which involved ridiculously silly straws and occasionally drinking one's beer through said straws. I know this is a travesty and is not how beer should be drunk, but it was pretty entertaining. This second "happy hour" concluded at Oblivious' house with a rousing game of Beatles Rock Band... and we didn't get home until after 2 AM. Many thanks to the friend who drove us home. We were liberated from driving all evening, actually, so no concerns over who was the designated driver.

On Saturday I had to get up relatively early, and spent pretty much all day interviewing people to be consultants for the Lofts to help us get our acts together. We need some help with our organizational structure, see, and with redistributing the work a bit so it's not 80% of the work being done by 20% of the people. The interviewees ran the gamut: one solid, one great, one awful. (The awful one really astounded me by how unprepared the individual was.) The group doing the interviewing has by and large been a very good group to work with, so it was all right... but it did mean that pretty much all day was taken up by that.
I did get a break in the middle of the day, during which time Azure & I worked on painting some walls in the loft we're selling... not very relaxing. We did get a real break when we went and had lunch with Alis, where we found out that Barrio has more vegetarian options than it used to! Yay!
And that night we went to roller derby, where we watched Minnesota trounce DC, which I kind of expected. But the game was still well played, the DC gals blocked well and worked hard, but the MN team was doing amazingly well. So the game was exciting, and it was fun to see the DC players, some of whom I remember cheering on from when we lived there. But I totally wussed out and went to bed instead of to the after party, and I don't even regret it.

On Sunday we finally got a bit of sleeping in, and then had our preliminary inspection for the loft we're selling. (Did I mention we have a buyer? We have a buyer! He's put down earnest money and everything. It looks good. Closing date is March 20th.) The inspection process in our co-op is a two phase process where a team from the co-op makes sure that the loft is in "good condition" when it changes hands. This is great in theory, although it often suffers from discrepancies in personal opinions about what "good condition" is, and other variables. (There is a checklist and a group of people whose 'job' it is to do this, but that doesn't guarantee uniformity.) Anyway, although we have been busting our asses on this already, I felt unhappy about the number of things pointed out to us that we have to do before the final inspection (which will be the 19th). In theory, I am great with the campsite philosophy of "leave it cleaner than you found it". In practice, well, I'm tired of cleaning, and I have no interest in painting all of those very tall walls floor to ceiling, when they were just painted 1 year ago and only have small white-on-white patches. And I found myself irritated by people pointing out things that I know where there when we moved in - things we could not possibly have caused or that I know the previous inspection process signed off on or glossed over - but we're just supposed to cheerily accept what the committee says and fix it or be docked for it. Eh, oh well, we will get through this and maybe we'll just eat the cost of the painting the walls ($240) and not do it, or hire someone to do that. I really need to just let it go and take care of the items on the list, but it rankles. I hate that co-op job.

So that was a bright and cheery start to my day. :-/ We did some work on taking care of items on the list for an hour or so after, and then had lunch, and then I went to meet with Ish about CONvergence stuff. It was a good meeting, and good to see him. I have a lot of work to do, but I feel more like I know what to do now. And once we're done with the old loft, I feel like I will actually have the time to work on that again! Phew.

Then I ran errands, because I was already out. And Azure and I had a very nice evening at home, that turned out to feel like a "date" even though we hadn't planned on that. As I posted on facebook, after our dinner of Field Roast, roasted Brussels sprouts, and rosemary oven fries, Azure said, "that was great, but now I want some sort of gourmet dessert to go with the gourmet dinner!" ...so I whipped up: roasted pears with balsamic, brown sugar, and ginger, topped with fresh ricotta. It was delicious. We watched part of a movie and enjoyed a little wine with dinner and felt good about life.

Annnnnd it's Monday and back to work. Where I hope to be more motivated this week; last week was not great.
