I have not been sleeping enough, and I don't have a good reason why. Despite my best intentions I have not been getting to bed as early as I should, and then the alarm still goes off at the same time in the morning. In the morning, I resolve that I must go to bed earlier that night, and then 11 PM comes around and I'm still distinctly awake and trying to wind down from the day.

It would probably help me sleep better if I was getting, oh, any exercise other than taking the stairs.

And sadly, the other day when I had coffee and I really liked it? I also had heart palpitations. That was Not Fun. So it's tea for me, at least for the foreseeable future. While I realize less caffeine will theoretically help my sleep cycles be better adjusted, right now it's just a crutch I can't lean on any more when I'm tired.

Anyway. This morning I am kind of down, for no particular individual good reason. I hope to find a way this weekend to take care of myself enough to turn my mood around. A little coccooning may be in order.

Thank you. Yes, hopefully those two. Depends on weather maybe.

Thank you. You too.
Actually last night was really nice in general. I should think about that a little more when I am feeling blue!

I've been exercising like a madwoman and still been sleeping restlessly and having trouble getting to bed at a reasonable hour, too. I actually stayed home this morning to try to recalibrate a bit; gonna go back to the office now. I hope you feel better. Not sleeping really sucks.

Some gentle yoga might help get your system restarted in a positive way. I know it helped me last night and I haven't been sleeping well this week either.

Sleep troubles are no fun. I hope you kick the blues in short order.

Along the same lines, I picked the wrong week to quit caffeine.

Want to go with me to the Japanese festival at Como on Sunday afternoon? Or for a walk or ride on Saturday? I seem to be blessed with low blood pressure; things that give other people racing heart rates like steroid inhalers and coffee do me good.

Life balance

Life balance seems to be really hard for a lot of my friends lately, myself included. I had tickets to Rufus Wainwright the other night. I knew it might be a late night but risked it anyway. Little did I know that Rufus was going to sing well past 11. I didn't get to bed until well after midnight and as you say, the alarm goes off at the same time anyway. Yeesh. I'm too old to be out that late on a school night. :)

Serioulsy, sleep is so important to good health but I think our culture/lifestyle/technology really screws with us sometimes. I'm trying to slow down myself so I know what you are going through. I remember the last time I had palpitations, it was from stress and I'm glad I took the measures I did at the time otherwise who knows what could have happened. I recently had a check-up with my doctor just to make sure everything was fine (and it is) when was your last check-up? Couldn't hurt to have one especially if you have medical insurance.

Often when I'm stressed, the mental carnival won't shut down until the wee hours, so it's hard to sleep. I've meditated, used sleeping pills and melatonin... which seems to all work. I don't know yet how to solve the root cause: the stress.

So long way of saying "I feel dat" and hoping it improves for you soon.
