Friday night we went to [livejournal.com profile] ethel & [livejournal.com profile] setharoo's to celebrate [livejournal.com profile] setharoo's graduation from grad school. Good job! Welcome to the Masterhood! Sorry the U apparently didn't give you a hood. What a rip-off.

Also, I have mild fire pit envy. They have a very nice fire pit. One of the downsides of living in the Lowertown Lofts Co-op is that we don't have a yard in which to put a fire pit or a hot tub or whatever. (Then again, we also don't have to mow the lawn, ever.) We decided that a good hobo fire in a 50-gallon drum was clearly the best alternative. Anyone have a spare one of those lying around?

Saturday was a gorgeous day. We slept in and went to the St. Paul farmer's market, which is conveniently located all of a block away from us. Awww yeah. Sunshine, fresh veggies, fresh bread, CSA cheese, and breakfast at Golden's Deli = excellent morning.

Later, I had [livejournal.com profile] starfive & [livejournal.com profile] lollygirlie1 over to Make Stuff. [livejournal.com profile] starfive mostly sketched & planned. [livejournal.com profile] lollygirlie1 got a lot done on sewing her costume. I altered one dress so it's better for Goth Prom tonight, and altered another dress so that I can use it as the base for my Space Ballgown. And then I planned and plotted how to make it light up. Sewing with conductive thread, I may not need to solder anything at all. But I need to figure out whether there will be issues with the conductive thread overlapping, or touching when I move, etc. It'll be a challenge. I ordered a bunch of LEDs and look forward to working on sewing them into place... and then maybe ironing fusible interfacing on ALL OF THE CONDUCTIVE THREAD to make sure I don't have the aforementioned problems. Hmm, I must find my velvet ironing board thing - or buy a new one. (The dress is velvet.) Or maybe I will put all of the conductive thread inside bias tubes...

That night I made sushi for [livejournal.com profile] gunn's birthday party. But when we got to our car, something was wrong... someone had smashed the driver's side window and stolen the quarters we kept in the car for parking! Probably they were hoping to get a GPS or something - we used to leave the GPS cables and stand in the car, although we took the GPS itself inside. Well we won't leave the accessories visible again, but at least the thief didn't get anything really valuable. Stupid thief. Thankfully we had a brush in the car to sweep it out with (at least getting most of the millions of shards of glass out) and a quilt to cover the driver's seat with (because it really wasn't safe to sit in, even post-sweeping). I got splinters of glass in my hands (I think they have worked their way out now) and was generally kind of shaken up. But we decided, screw the thief, we'd go to the party anyway.

At least it was beautiful weather, so driving with one window gone was okay. And in fact, the party was fun, and the sushi was appreciated, and we had a good time, and I'm very glad we went. Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] gunn!

Now [livejournal.com profile] azure_armand is hoping to get the window fixed today, and I sincerely hope the insurance pays for it. We're very fortunate that it's good weather so it's been much less awful than it could have been.

Sunday was mostly for sloth and domesticity. Cleaning, laundry, and staying in my pyjamas until 3 PM. A co-op meeting that took two+ hours, and featured one of our neighbors assuming that Every. Single. Item of business. Was a personal attack on him. Boy that got old fast, and probably doubled the length of the meeting. After the meeting we went to Wong's with [livejournal.com profile] s4, and used our Groupon to get an awesome deal. We made a big crock-pot of tacos de tinga for the week. Watched Dr. Who & hung out with [livejournal.com profile] s4 instead of doing one of the many volunteer or work tasks I'd thought I would do. Apparently I was out of motivation.

Sucks about the window! Stupid thieves.

It was great to see both of you on Friday, and thanks for the compliments on the fire pit! I'm a little proud of it. :). We are looking forward to many more bonfires with friends this summer.

Wow. Other than the window, all that sounds lovely.
