The bathroom project continues. I took some pictures of tiling a week or two ago, and then neglected to post them. Here they are:
Tile finished behind toilet

Terrible shot of medicine cabinet and tile under/around it. The medicine cabinet is original or at least old, we refinished it. We are waiting for the glass shelves to come in that will go inside of it.

The wonderful window in the shower, which still has to be prepped and repainted.

This corner is now SO MUCH MORE DONE. Like ALL DONE.

The best part of the border tile we picked - a slightly iridescent blue - is that it glows in the dark. Really. I had to photoshop this picture to make it look sort of like it really does in the dark - but it's awesome. (This is the problem with taking pictures with my phone.)

Since I took those pictures, more progress has been made. The rough edges visible in one of the shots have been finished up. The area behind the toilet, and to the left of it as you are looking at it, has been grouted and is DONE. The shampoo shelf and soap holding thingy have been tiled into place. The other corner - the one marked "corner in progress" above - is done, all the way up. The only thing remaining to tile is the bottom few inches of the final wall, which sadly requires some tiles to be specially cut, but it's feasible.
Of course when the tile is done there will be MUCH REJOICING but it will not quite mean the end of the interminable bathroom project. We still have to:
(1) install sink
(2) finish scraping and sanding the window (we worked on this a bunch this weekend)
(3) repaint the window to make it waterproof
(4) install showerhead, curtain rod, etc. (this should be fairly easy)
(5) caulk
(6) TAKE CELEBRATORY SHOWER
(7) smooth out rough parts of walls and ceiling - in some cases this involves a little more drywall compound followed by sanding, in other cases just sanding
(8) paint
(9) install threshold
(10) install towel bars, toilet paper holder, etc.
PARTY IN THE BATHROOM!
Still, this list is something we should be able to accomplish with reasonable speed. Hooray! Also, I don't think I said here, but the Fabulous Handyman made it so we have good water pressure everywhere, both hot and cold. All of our old pipes were so full of sediment it was like the water was coming through a straw.
We also have a nice functional closet again in our bedroom, with a neat & tidy access panel in it, should we need to get at the bathroom plumbing again.
Progress... it's slow, but it's happening!
