You were diving in Lake Superior summer temp water; brrrr!
Great pictures, although the redheaded diver seems to be having some fogging problems with her mask. You look relaxed and old-pro, really. You now have major-league brag rights on other divers due to water conditions while on qual.
"Yeah? When I qualified, we had to swim in 45-degree water in a rock quarry..." You'll get some pretty disbelieving looks from the Florida divers. Practice delivering this in a non-chalant manner, and the world's your mollosc of choice.
Thank you! I thought of you while diving and wondered how the heck you could stand diving in Lake Superior. Eek! But I do feel very tough.
I was the only student who brought defog. I shared it around but I don't know if the redhead remembered to use it - and none of the students seemed to be into spitting in their masks.
The viz was pretty good for a quarry, I guess. I was disappointed not to see any fish. Honestly, there were two "tours" that I opted out of - because I was too cold and was also afraid that my problems with equalization would prevent me from getting certified. Oh well; it mostly means I didn't get to see an underwater school bus.
You and your class *are* very tough. Lake Superior, when you know what to expect, is something you get used to.
As for the tour? Seen one sunken bus, you've seen them all... boats and ships are a different matter, of course.
And frankly, for your first couple dives, you should push only a small ways past the previous comfort zone- try something new each time, but don't over-push; it's like hiking that way. Too many stressors too fast will lead to something unpleasent. Take it a little at a time, and pretty soon you'll be out-swimming even an old walrus like me.
"Spitting in your own mask is encouraged, spitting into others is not."
Geez!
