In the last couple of weeks, I have either run into or heard from a large number of old friends and contacts. The antiquity varies somewhat, but includes my old Girl Scout troop leader from 1989, a church acquaintance from Bahrain days (1987 or before), a couple of college friends, and a high school friend. It's excellent, but the accumulation is beginning to be almost mysterious.

...

In unrelated news, I am a bad bachelorette. With Azure still in Minneapolis for a few days, I have more free time than I know what to do with. But instead of cooking myself good meals or going out and being social, I have been working long hours and eating pizza. Okay, that's only two dinners of pizza, but I am glad that it's gone now so I can't do that any more. Thankfully, the aforementioned influx of old friends should help to clear up the social drought, and pull me out of my shell. Perhaps part of it is the post-Con, post-hyper-social withdrawal that almost everyone seems to suffer.

...

I biked all the way home from work and managed to not get hit by any cars. I think I am going to make this experiment again tomorrow, but only if I can think of a way that does not involve going up long long steep hills, or carrying my bike up 120+ stairs. I will now go stare at a map, drink my OJ-and-tequila, and then have a bath. mmm. I miss my honey. Take good care of him for me, Minneapolis.

oj and tequila? hm.

i am not a tequila fan, although i know it is the magic ingredient that makes a margarita good.

this weekend at the bacon party we were serving peach schnapps and tang. it's so so tacky, and i've been craving it all week.

It was either OJ and tequila, or OJ and bad Dutch gin.
I had one of those fuzzy astronauts at your party. It was tasty, if extreeeeemely sweet.

The Kennedy Center has free concerts on Friday and Saturday this weekend. Maybe you could go.

Not having seen (or even been in contact with) someone since 1987 renders the friendship pretty antique.

i have imagined some kind of neat bike maps for cities that showed routes based on elevation (so that you could avoid hilly routes if you wanted), traffic (so that you could avoid deadly car traffic), and stop lights (because stop lights are soooooo stupid for bikes!)

That would be excellent. Although stop lights are my least hated of those things.

I can totaly relate. I've been trying to watch what I eat but lately I've been to tired to cook for myself.

Yeah. I broke the pattern last night because a friend came over, but it was ugly there for a while. I wish you luck in working slightly less so that you can take care of yourself more.

It looks like I will almost certainly be in DC either Jan-March or March-June, depending on scheduling and such... will you still be there?

Yes. Unless something radical happens, I'll be here for the next two years. (!) With vacations, of course.
