Free digital camera, needs maybe $80 of repairs.

Anyone want an Olympus Stylus 300 Digital? 3.2 megapixels, 3x optical zoom; has a 64 mb card in it as well as the teensy one it came with. The catch is that its internal shutter is stuck (so the guys on the phone at Olympus told me anyway), so the camera is effectively blind and useless right now. (It takes great pictures of black things on a black background at night.) Apparently it'll cost about $80 to fix it; of course maybe someone out there in lj-land has the know-how to fix it themselves.

This camera used to take excellent pictures and it was only my impatience that made me buy a new camera instead of fixing this one.

If you want it, leave a comment (screened) with your address so I can mail it to you.

UPDATE: Claimed.

I don't want your old camera, but I do want to know the model number of your new camera.

And I'm curious why it doesn't have automatic red-eye elimination, or some such similar feature.

Canon Powershot SD 500 Digital ELPH (7.1 megapixel)
It may have some red-eye reducing feature that I don't know about yet. Then again, red-eye reducing flashes seldom work on me. I am the Queen of Redeye.

I found the SD 550 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=G4QSRV2ZAAHU3KC4D3FFAFQ?skuId=7331078&type=product&id=1118845061717). Could there be a new version already?

Yup. I think I bought as they were switching. But it has the same number of megapixels and the same zoom, so I don't feel like I got a bad deal.
