I bought one of those GRONO lamps from IKEA the other day so I could bring it to work and make my desk prettier and more pleasant. I thought I might consider covering it with fabric or paper or something, but I'd try it with just the glass to start.

This morning, having brought a light bulb with me (so helpful for lamps) I set it up... and in the process, hit the lamp against a picture frame and broke off one of the corners. Broken glass is not the best start to my work day ever.

I decided the lamp was salvageable - it was only a small chunk that had gotten broken off - but that it definitely needed some kind of shade now. This was a job for...


Office supplies to the rescue - 15 minutes later I had a reasonably pretty paper shade, blue with green swirly leafy things on it. Totally hides the broken corner (well, from most angles).

I only feel slightly guilty about using 15 minutes of work time to do that.
