CONvergence was really great!

The Bollywood room party was a hit! Running a party with [livejournal.com profile] windelina = excellent. It took some work to set up Wednesday and Thursday, but wasn't too bad. [livejournal.com profile] azure_armand, [livejournal.com profile] fayde, and Rubin were particularly stalwart volunteers, but several others were awesome excellent helpers. We had a lot of fun with the party, and people really seemed to like the food, activities, and decor. I have a bunch of photos to post, as people really got into the photo-frame thing we did and wearing saris. The flash mob on Friday at 2 AM was particularly excellent and a great way to end the party. Fun! I think we will do it again next year, with some minor changes. One of those is, I hope, more helpers. Anyone interested?

I didn't feel like I was particularly useful to Facilities during Con, but I guess I was a little. We'll see how that goes in future years, if I can be more useful without it being a gigantic timesuck.

On Saturday I did the T-shirt modification workshop, which was so much fun! And apparently was also well-received. I took a little down time in the room and finished adding glowy stuff to [livejournal.com profile] azure_armand's and my outfits for the night. Those were fun! Here's a picture, although of course it doesn't show the light-up aspect:

The little boutonniere thing on Azure's coat (which I made from scratch) was a fiberoptic wand that I stitched into the coat and stitched down so it fanned out. There was another one on his back. I also had two on my dress. As the night wore on and I danced a lot, I realized that I hadn't stitched them into my dress carefully enough, though, and I lost 'em both. Oops. Well, the fiberoptic wands were Ax-Man finds of a couple of bucks each, so no big loss. I also had a "nebula" thing I made out of mostly black-light reactive fabric, and paint, and a few LEDs, and some EL wire (that stopped working within an hour of me putting the thing on, at which point I ripped the EL wire out and kept going). La la la.

Sunday was more downtempo, as it tends to be, but I helped a bit with load out, and ran into some overly officious and bureaucratic fans/volunteers but tried not to let that get to me, and went to closing ceremonies, and dead-dogged with the movie and the post-movie hanging out in various spots around con. I like the hyperactive insanity of the three nights prior, but in some ways that much more relaxed tempo of Sunday night was really nice.

And now it's Monday, and after a tiny bit more move-out, I'm home, and partially unpacked, and we put the AC in the window, and I'm glad to be back with the cats. Right now, I need my quiet time. But that was fun. Let's do it again next year!

You both looked awsome! And I'd love to help out on Thursday night agian next year. It was a perfect thing for me to do, and I think that I'd otherwise have been bored, instead of having a blast. And yeah, Rubin kept me laughing all night long!

The t-shirt modification workshop was indeed fabulous. My friend Becca calls it one of the highlights of her very first convention.

Thank you! I will make sure the main organizers of that workshop hear that compliment. How nice.

My mind kind of boggled a little at how many people had no idea what Bollywood is.
