May. 24th, 2010 08:44 amYou know how last week was so busy for me? By the time I got to the end of the week, I was totally overloaded. I managed to make it out to watch
r0ckc4ndy and
viajes do aerial circus stuff on Friday night. That was pretty cool.
Saturday, I woke up utterly stressed out after nightmare-filled sleep. I couldn't take people. I couldn't take responsibility. I didn't go to the all-day conference I meant to go to. I didn't go to ConCom (as I'd already said I couldn't). I hid, for a while. And then all I did was go pick up a sewing machine that I'd bought (a Bernina, for a really good price; it's a fairly basic machine but it should be solid and a good replacement for my 12-year old Baby Lock), and get some fabric etc. to make some headway on projects. We did have a pleasant 2-mile or so walk over to the other side of the river, where we bought some delicious Mexican ice cream, and walked home. Then we both required quarantine. There was not much to recommend Saturday (other than the ice cream), but I really needed the time to myself, and so did
azure_armand, and we got it. I feel kind of bad that I failed to attend a happily-anticipated birthday celebration, but I wouldn't have been any good there. You know how it is.
Sunday was better. We went out to the farmer's market - first we went shopping, and then we were inspired to go in, make breakfast, and bring it outside to eat at the market. It was lovely to spend that time outside. Later we walked over to MPR's open house for members, where we ran into
burnunit &
lexinatrix. It was cool to check out the studios and talk to some of the people there. We both felt a heck of a lot better on Sunday than on Saturday. Later we went home, cleaned, and made a curry dinner for
minnehaha B&K, and M&E our upstairs neighbors. (Aloo gobi, dahl, and channa masala, plus raita and rice and chapatis. Cheese course by B&K; almond cake by E. I'm still full.)
This week is a little less madly over-full. I hope I can keep it that way and make some headway on some of the stuff I want to do - and retain my sanity.

Date: 2010-05-25 01:27 pm (UTC)While visiting MPR, we talked to a nice guy who ... I think he said he runs events? that he was responsible for booking shows to actually come, like This American Life or RadioLab or whatever. Anyway, I guess I'm telling you because I thought, he seems like a decent fellow. And he recognized your name in a positive-seeming way. It's nice to think of you having decent colleagues.
