I've had the flu - I am given to believe, by not quite medical sources, that since I have had the flu it's most likely the dreaded h1n1. Woo! Well, I'm recovering. Still have a nasty sore throat and periodic headaches, but I'm better than I was. No more high fever. So if I have flaked out on you recently, this is probably why.
Work
I'm still working at the contract job I got. I'm still not loving it, but I'm putting in the hours (well, when I'm not home sick) and getting some stuff done. They say they really like what I'm doing and so on, that I'm doing a good job. But I spend so little of my time working hard that I'm puzzled how they can feel that way.
Anyway, I'm still looking for the meaningful long-term gig. I found something I'm super excited about with AFS-USA... and applied for it two weeks ago... and followed up by leaving a voicemail one week ago... and have had someone who works there mention my name to the hiring person... and I have not heard anything back at all, not even a confirmation. I hope this simply means she's busy and will get to the hiring stuff in time, and not that she is totally uninterested in me. *sigh* Waiting is hard. I've found some other things too, one of which I'll apply for (at the UMN) and one I think I'm not qualified enough to pull off (at the CVT). Anyway, I'm trying to keep my chin up and remember that it's a good thing that I am at least finding jobs to apply for that are in my field, and in the Twin Cities.
Other stuff
Between work and the beastly commute, and being sick, I feel like I've barely done anything else. Azure and I went to the St. Paul Art Crawl last weekend. I've got plans for the next two weekends - DC and then Halloween, but no major plans for this weekend. I'm going to try to get some sewing done tonight, and I have a baby shower to go to on Saturday. Anyone doing anything fun this weekend and want company?
ETA: Oh, right - roller derby on Saturday evening! So, with your ideas and that, maybe not quite such an empty weekend. :-)
