Nov. 18th, 2010 09:16 amI'm inspired by my good day yesterday and by other people also being positive online to burble at you.
Yesterday was just good. Not particularly mindblowing, but good all the way through. I had lots of energy when I woke up, and got a lot of stuff done. I mean, a lot; I was the person who whisked into work and unloaded the dishwasher and made a pot of coffee (even though I wasn't going to drink any) and then got a bunch of work accomplished in a busy and fast-moving morning.
Despite the fact that I spent 4.5 hours in the conference room for one thing after another, I had a good afternoon. There was some interesting discussion about how to do our training better, and I have some thoughts that a co-worker later called "brilliant". I love that word! Especially when it's applied to me!
I had a little review with my boss, where I invited criticism but was only told that they were very happy to have me and think I'm doing really well. How often does a review go like that?
I managed to stop by the co-op (grocery store) on the way home and got all the stuff we needed for a while, and when I got home, took care of some co-op (lofts, where we live) stuff. That stuff is for a group of very functional co-op colleagues who I am beginning to adore working with - it's so nice when people get stuff DONE and I can think of the work as not only service to my living community, but also as a place where I get to learn from others!
I capped off my good day with a date with my handsome husband. We went to Christos, the Greek (really Cypriot) restaurant across the street from our house in Union Depot. The food was good and we had some Cypriot wine with dinner, reminding us of our trip this summer. We talked about our jobs a lot over dinner, but you know, that's okay when you both love your work and do interesting things. How fortunate we are.
We hadn't really been into Union Depot at all until Tuesday, when we decided to take the skyways to the Y. Success there too - with almost no getting lost either there or back, we now know how to take the skyways to the gym, which means that working out and sitting in a hot tub will be entirely feasible in the dead of winter. Hooray! So that's a success for working out, and a success for exploring the skyways, and finding out that Union Depot is actually very lovely inside. I wonder what it will look like when renovated.
Overall, we've been trying to get out of our rut at home - we were in a pattern of home-computer-dinner-movie-drink-bed. Every evening. Now we are mixing it up with gym and dinners that are NOT in front of the TV and dates and creative stuff. Hope we can keep it up!
Hmm. Now I have spent too long writing this happy update, but really, it's a good balance to the complaining. Now I must go and try to continue to be motivated. I wonder if it's possible to have another good day like yesterday? So far so good!
