Feb. 17th, 2008 10:40 pmI'm in Germany. It's good to be with my parents. My dad is getting better and is feeling pretty chipper but isn't out of the hospital yet. We hope he will be released tomorrow, to spend another week or two in the hotel here in Marl. Then it's back to Cyprus for them.
I'm dealing rather well with the jet lag, if I do say so myself. I had a 45-minute long conversation in French (wait, aren't I in Germany? I know, but I don't speak German) with my Moroccan taxi driver. I also (note duration of taxi ride) paid for the most expensive taxi ride I've ever had, 90 Euros + 5 Euro tip. On the way back to the airport on Tuesday, I will take the train. I don't know how much it will be but it only takes an hour and it's gotta be cheaper. Plus I'll get to experience those famous German train schedules first hand.
I haven't had any astoundingly German food, but I have had some good beer.

Date: 2008-02-18 01:57 pm (UTC)And you're making me a bit nostalgic. I haven't been back to Europe in at least fifteen years now, and part of me still considers it home.
