Do you have a different one-word descriptor that says, "cloth, or pleather, or other items, which may look like leather but have no animal content"? Because "cloth" alone doesn't say all that, IMHO.

Eh. Not one-word, no. Maybe I'm just having a backlash against the term since all family meals for the last two weeks have revolved around quinoa.

I can see that. Quinoa is good, and a "supergrain" and all, but a steady diet of it could get pretty dull.
