Dec. 10th, 2006 06:54 pmI have spent the weekend recovering from that nasty cold/flu thing. I am happy to report that today I feel a lot better, even if I am still totally stuffed up.
Since that meant mostly staying in, I have also worked hard on my SRP (big final paper). For a while I had two laptops out in front of me: one, a PC from work, for processing social science data using a program called SPSS; the other, my faithful Mac for everything else. I have made a lot of progress. I have not finished it. But I have made a lot of progress. The final thing is due in about a week.
I have my oral comprehensive exams on Tuesday. I think I'll spend the rest of my study time tonight and tomorrow after work focusing more on that and less on my paper. I think. I'm not too worried about them, but send me some good luck that day anyway, if you think of it.
Our heat stopped working last night, which was bad. Then it started working today, after we bought a space heater. I don't understand, and I hope our landlord will check out the heat thing anyway, just in case.
We went to All Souls church today, and as we left I again commented that we should go more often. I always feel good when we go. So we should just make sure to go more frequently. The service was mostly focused on Hannukah but, as usual, had a spin of humanistic and pacifistic UU goodness to it. I like how that church makes me feel like yes, there are other people out there who feel the same way I do. And it makes me feel hopeful. All good things.
It was a beautiful day today. I'm glad that we walked to and from church. We also walked over to Sticky Fingers to get some lunch. I had a delicious BBQ seitan sandwich. Mmm.
I should mention that the work issue I was dealing with a while ago, the one that made me really really unhappy and frustrated? Well, it's been resolved, and more importantly, I think that the work relationship between me and the manager I was frustrated with has recovered and will be a good working relationship. He was really helpful with something to do with my SRP. I'm grateful.
