So this morning I decided to try a bus-bike adventure - biking to the bus, sticking my bike on the front of the bus, biking from the bus to campus. The bus part was fine. I got some reading done on the way, which was good.

But then I wiped out on my bike on my way to work; in my sudden decision to get out of traffic, I managed to hit a seam in the concrete just wrong, and fell. I ripped up my shoulder and hands, and worst of all, broke the chain on my bike. Yes, I was wearing my helmet; no, I did not hit my head.

There's a Hudson Trail Outfitters that's at Tenley circle, so I will take the bike there today and see if they can fix the chain. I think I just broke one of the links so hopefully they will be able to. If not, well, I guess I will not be biking to work until I can get out to College Park Bikes. Either way, I'm picking up a pair of gloves. I'd rather not do this to my hands again.

I cleaned myself up with the first aid kit at work and I'm okay, but ... ow.

I will always, always wear my helmet.

And yes, if I had a digital camera right now, you would all be able to look at beautiful photos of my owies. Aren't you lucky that I am camera-less?

OW!

Ow. that sucks. I'm glad that nothing is broken other than your bike chain.

Road Rash on the Palms is the WORST! I hope you'll take it easy for the next few days. You know, make Joe do more of the cooking and cleaning...;)

But, really, Happy you are not hurt too badly and hope the hurting goes away soon.

Hope you heal up fast. Good that you were wearing a helmet, you are smart (unlike many of my seemingly sensible friends who fail to wear helmets).

Ugh. Glad you weren't hurt worse -- good for you with the helmet. At least hands heal fast (OK, well, that's a pretty lame silver lining).

Yowch. Glad to hear you're all right.
The gloves are a good idea- can't count the times they've saved my palms from harm.
and the chain should be an easy fix- not more than $20 even if they tell you to replace it.
