I'm thinking about getting my own domain name, and putting up a small website there. Any recommendations for a service to use?

I want it to be professional (hence, probably not googlewebsites; also, I can't get one of those just yet)
I want to be able to keep it for years (hence, I want a company that's got some stability and isn't going to disappear overnight and take my registration fees with it)
I want to keep a site of perhaps up to 100 pages on it
I don't really care about secure transactions, shopping cart stuff, or most other widgets

Is godaddy.com okay? What do you recommend?

Edit: I guess all I need now is a registrar - web hosting is taken care of. It seems that registrars are less flaky (and less price-variable) than hosting services, so recommendations are still appreciated but I can probably live with what I've got.

I use godaddy for my domain registration and dreamhost for my webhosting. I like keeping them separate so I can move my hosting or domain registration without having it all fall apart.

Dreamhost starts at $8/month (if you prepay for two years at once) and you get a ridiculous amount of space (20GB). Use the following link and I get credit:
http://www.dreamhost.com/rewards.cgi?coprock
Or use this link and I don't:
http://www.dreamhost.com/

I haven't used godaddy's hosting so I can't offer advice about that. From what I recall you didn't get much compared to dreamhost but they might be cheaper.

Godaddy.com is good, as is Site5.com. The biggest concern with Site5 is that you don't get any phone support, but I've gotten better email support from them than I've gotten from many webhosting companies phone support.

You're mixing apples and oranges a bit.

The domain registration goes off to the internet registration people or you do not get an address. It's renewable anually or multiples of that.

The site is where you ask them to point your domain address to.

One can be both, but the won't vanish with your registration. However, if you forget to update your email information with the site you do register it through, be prepared for problems. Not that I've done that or nothing... well, hardly ever.

www.easy-cgi.com is very stable, has been around for years, is the least expensive domain-names I've ever seen. And allows full scripting and database access (something many hosts tend to charge you extra for, or don't allow at all). They are also used to dealing with buisnesses and corporations so they are very professional in natue. To top it off they have a support 800 number, where as most companies only do support via e-mail. I've never had to wait more than 15 minute to get help, and they've always fixed my issues within 1 phone call.

easy-cgi does both hosting and domains. Domains are about $10 a year, and hosting is also in expensive (I host my own stuff so I'm not sure about the cost).

I did actually know those were two separate things, honestly, but a lot of services provide both. And since I thought I needed both, I thought I'd get both from the same place. Turns out all I need's the registrar, so that's relatively easy. I'll try to remember about the email address, though.

I've used GoDaddy for the past several years, and I have never ever ever had a problem with them. The rates are cheap, and their service team is quick to respond if you need help.
