I'm thinking about getting my own domain name, and putting up a small website there. Any recommendations for a service to use?
I want it to be professional (hence, probably not googlewebsites; also, I can't get one of those just yet)
I want to be able to keep it for years (hence, I want a company that's got some stability and isn't going to disappear overnight and take my registration fees with it)
I want to keep a site of perhaps up to 100 pages on it
I don't really care about secure transactions, shopping cart stuff, or most other widgets
Is godaddy.com okay? What do you recommend?
Edit: I guess all I need now is a registrar - web hosting is taken care of. It seems that registrars are less flaky (and less price-variable) than hosting services, so recommendations are still appreciated but I can probably live with what I've got.

You are...
Date: 2006-02-26 01:28 am (UTC)The domain registration goes off to the internet registration people or you do not get an address. It's renewable anually or multiples of that.
The site is where you ask them to point your domain address to.
One can be both, but the won't vanish with your registration. However, if you forget to update your email information with the site you do register it through, be prepared for problems. Not that I've done that or nothing... well, hardly ever.
