Some random content for you:

I found a new class to take. I like it much better than the old one, and as an added bonus, it might provide some help with the whole finding-a-job thing. We'll see. It's on public service advertising, and a lot of it involves working with existing public service ad groups, like Kaiser, and like the Ad Council. We actually spent our entire class time at the Ad Council's DC offices today.

From my class site: The Ad Council is a private, non-profit organization that marshals volunteer talent from the advertising and communications industries, the facilities of the media, and the resources of the business and non-profit communities to deliver critical messages to the American public. The Ad Council produces, distributes and promotes thousands of public service campaigns on behalf of non-profit organizations and government agencies in issue areas such as improving the quality of life for children, preventative health, education, community well being, environmental preservation and strengthening families.

Additionally: The Ad Council's website lists PSAs it's worked on in the past, but they include Smokey the Bear, the "friends don't let friends drive drunk" campaign, McGruff (do you remember "take a bite out of crime"? I sure do)

We spent over 2 hours in their offices today, much of that talking with a couple of the VPs. They seemed pretty up-front and open in response to our questions, and I learned a lot. I'm glad I picked this course up, although it does seem like it'll be challenging.

Tonight, [livejournal.com profile] azure_armand and I are watching shorts from the Fifth Annual Media that Matters Film Festival. I ordered the dvd from them a while ago, hoping to show it at school. That fell through, but hey, all of you can still watch it on the Web! And you should. Really. I thought I was going to be recommending the Battleground: Minnesota short - which I do - but the one we really have enjoyed so far is the Pizza Surveillance Feature (by the ACLU). You should really all check it out. Especially [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B.

I had a lovely dream about hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] jcoppercorn the other night.

In much less important news, I finally finished the Warcraft III story, so now I can stop playing it obsessively.
