Feb. 15th, 2012 12:15 pmYesterday was a good day. I woke up to a heart-shaped cookie, rose, small box of chocolate truffles, and a grapefruit on the pillow next to me. Thankfully I awoke in time to kiss Joe and thank him for it. How sweet! Especially the grapefruit. I know it may seem funny but I really like them, and he noticed I hadn't had any for a while. Very thoughtful. Also, it was delicious.
I spent the day at home doing a combination of work-for-my-job and cooking. It was a nice luxury to be able to do both at once. I made amazing BBQ sauce, among other things. And a goofy Valentine for Joe.
That night we went to a Valentine's dinner party that friends hosted, and enjoyed fine company and delicious fondue (two kinds of cheese, and chocolate). I ate too much (but not ridiculously too much). There were kumquats! I love kumquats! I even got sent home with a handful of them. Yum.
I'm not a fan of the store-bought and hyped and pressure-filled variants of Valentine's day, but I really enjoyed yesterday.
