figment: A treewoman, a dryad, her arms are branches (me no front teeth)

The weekend was good. In some ways, it started on Thursday with the midnight showing of the Dark Knight, which I liked. Friday it was tough to get up, but I only worked a half-day (which was entirely composed of meetings) so that was... easier. That night we had [livejournal.com profile] dubaiwalla over for dinner and I cooked up a vegan feast; it was entirely pleasant.

Saturday we slept in (making up for the short night of sleep on Thursday night, I guess). We headed out to see a Fringe show (The Heffner Monologues) at 3 PM in Adams Morgan; it was interesting. The titular John Heffner reminded me a bit of [livejournal.com profile] 433, except I believe [livejournal.com profile] 433 has more luck with the ladies -- which was kind of the point of the whole, autobiographical, humorous/painful piece. I'm glad we saw it. Then we walked slowly downtown, sharing a frozen drink thingie, and looked for the next show we wanted to see. Alas! The first "trick" of the magic show we were trying to see was switching the address on the Fringe site... so we couldn't actually find the show. But no problem, we ran into Snakebite at a bookstore in the area and hung out with her, having dinner at Teaism. So it'd already been a really good day and then we got to top it off with several hours of interesting conversation and good beer at [livejournal.com profile] daviathan and [livejournal.com profile] ms_maryclare's place. A rousing success of a Saturday.

Sunday was much less full of things, but we did get some substantial housecleaning done, and got to see our friend J's Fringe show Iconicity. It was powerful and moving; it really came together. Very serious, though; not at all the same mood as the Heffner Monologues. And that's what I like about Fringe! Dinner at Matchbox, a very trendy pizza place, finished the night off...

Monday, unfortunately, has not been as good. Of course. I did manage to get up and get to work early enough to go to the gym for a while, which makes me feel better. But the horrible thing is that what greeted me this morning in my office was two dead mice caught in traps. So sad. So pathetic. So ewww.
