I got my hair cut again on Sunday. I couldn't stand it any more. Here I am, with short, pinkish hair. I even left the pink in, and as far as I can tell, none of the university bigwigs minded.
I think it is awesome! and really hot...... I'm trying to decide what to do with mine at the moment..... I hat it cut similar to Kat's (was on Miami Ink, and now LA Ink)... but it has since grown out and had the hell of ren faire.... so it's trashed. At least you can get away with the pink.... I'd get fired. sometimes corporate America sucks, but it pays the bills!
It's a bummer that they'd fire you. (Universities are easier to get away with stuff in.) But you can probably die your hair one or more "natural" colors and get away with it...
