Work stress
Aug. 17th, 2006 06:00 pmThere is a lot going on right now at work. It's the beginning of the semester, or almost, so next week is the Week of Orientations, in which I have to co-run one, help out with another, and attend a third to "market" our Center's services. Monday I worked until 7; Tuesday until 7:30; Wednesday until 6. I expect I'll be here tonight until 7.
We are looking for a new manager. The position requires both strong technical skills in video editing, animation, motion graphics, etc, and strong management skills. We have had a great group of people apply. I know four of them personally - one is a very close friend, one is a less-close friend, and the other two I'm at least friendly with. They're all great guys. I find it personally distressing to have to help make a choice that will definitely end up leaving three people I like disappointed. I wish I could just make up extra jobs to hand out.
There's a lot that needs to be done. Tonight I'll finish the budget, fret about wage money, and edit the newsletter. I think that's enough for one night.
