figment: A treewoman, a dryad, her arms are branches (Default)
You people write a lot. I had to skip back 280 entries to get caught up after not reading lj since Saturday morning. This means I skimmed most things. Sorry, eh?

We went to Ann Arbor, but we got delayed by a day and spent it in Baltimore. We found the hipster neighborhood and went to a bar called Rocket to Venus that was retro-futuristic and had really tasty food. We successfully arrived in Ann Arbor on Sunday, a day later than we were supposed to, and it started to snow that night. Ugh. But we had a lovely walk every day we were there, I got to catch up with my brother and sister-in-law, and spent some very quality time with my 9-month-old niece. She is babbling and crawling and pulling herself up and balancing while she stands, and is of course an exceptionally cute baby. She mugs for the camera and has the best smile ever. We had some good food and got to help out, and I did some rather strenuous yoga, and it was a relaxing and very pleasant little vacation. Despite the snow.

Now we're back in DC and I have two more days of "vacation" at home, and it's sunny and supposed to hit a high of 65 today so we will probably go biking. Perhaps I will do some useful things too, like sort through my retirement finances (I have several 401k s from several previous employers that it would probably be smart to consolidate, for example), or work on sewing my wedding dress (this sounds more fun than the financial stuff). But I just got to spend an hour reading about your lives with my cat Bagheera curled up around my hand, snoring: life is good.
