Thing-a-Day was really fun, but also somewhat stressful. On the whole, I feel really good about it - I am proud that I set myself a challenge and achieved it. I'm also terribly relieved that I don't "have" to make something every day now. I look forward to doing some other things with my time and re-prioritizing my life so that I still make stuff, but also, oh, get some exercise, sleep a little more, finish the important home-projects that aren't creative. But this whole thing did prove to me that I can work a full day, have a social life, make headway on the large project of moving into a new place and cleaning out an old one, and still make something every day. That's amazing!

This month has gotten me creating and gave me great energy to, I hope, keep going this year. Not at the same rate, mind you, but maybe a thing a week? I still have a list of things to make (about half of the projects I made were from my list, and about half were made up on the fly), and I feel like I'm more aware of what I've got in my stash. The number of unfinished objects (UFOs) I have around hasn't decreased, but I feel like I might actually make headway on them if I can keep up my energy...

For those of you who like stats: I made 30 things (there were two bonuses).
60% of the Things I made were from new materials, and 40% from reused or recycled materials.
2/3 of the Things I made were for me, and 1/3 were for someone else
The majority of Things I made were blue, with red also making a strong showing. No one who knows me is shocked by this. ("other" includes orange, purple, green, and black)
stats-color
The majority of Things I made were wearable; I made an almost equal number of decorative and useful Things. I am surprised by how little food I made and counted as a Thing.

Would I do it again? Probably. I don't know about next year; it depends on what else is happening in my life. I might try to focus more on learning new skills (I did some of that this time, but not that much) or have a theme (I saw someone do a fish-a-day that was really cute, but I might get irritated by the sameness of any theme) or make everything from reused/recycled materials, or make everything something that is either useful or a gift (no more clutter).

Just doing this much art/craft has kept me more aware of other peoples' work, and that's been inspirational (although sometimes I've felt disdain for other peoples' Things, I admit it) For example, while I don't love all of the art in this entry, her idea of what to do with the father's old sweater may have solved my long-standing problem of what to do with the pink sweater my grandmother made me - perhaps it can become a scarf.

Maybe the fact that I could pull this off will inspire me to set other goals for each month of the year? If so, then my goal for March is to get into a solid gym habit of 2-3 times a week.

Thanks! It was reasonably easy to make but I was still pleased to make a whole dress in one evening. With no pattern!

I think it is really cool that you did the thing-a-day.

Did you listen to the Cartoon Network Thing to Do Today song on any of the days?

I did not even know that existed! ... and I have no idea how I would watch them since I don't have TV.

I wish Cartoon Network weren't DMCA-spouting bitches, because they've apparently sent takedown notices to everybody who ever posted thing Cartoon Network thing to do today videos to youtube or anywhere else, which is a damn shame, because A) they're full of really bad ideas, and B) very funny.

Regarless of that. I'm still pretty impressed by your persistence in crafting.
