sadly, feminists with disabilities for a way forward shut down before they did all the words i wanted them to, but here's their ableist word profile on lame, which hits a lot of the same points as would be applicable to gimpy.
Well, I'm embarrassed and apologetic, and have changed the offending text.
I realize "I didn't think about it" is not a very good excuse, but I have not used the word "gimpy" to refer to someone's physical ability in such a long time that I had kind of forgotten that meaning. I'll quote someone from the post you referred me to -
I've had the same "Holy crap, what *can* I say?" reaction as many others, although I hope it was more of an "Oh my God, the cultural bullshit goes deep" and less of a "Wahh, my freedom to make poor word choices!"
