Very full weekend.
Friday we went to [livejournal.com profile] springbok1's for gazpacho and hanging out. It was low-key and lovely. And I learned that iris-flavored gin is really neat!
And then we went and saw Inception, so we have caught up with most of the world on that, and am now only behind on not having seen Scott Pilgrim yet. But a movie! We seldom see them in theaters any more. And this was a really good one, puzzle-y and left me thinking and talking about it days later.

Saturday we went to the farmer's market, and I made chocolate chip cookies, and stuff for a while. It was relaxing and pleasant. I had some time to myself during the day, and made some nifty accessory-type items that I may try to make more of and sell at the Art Crawl. It was nice to do something creative. The evening was much busier. We went to the Riverview where we got to spend a nice little time with [livejournal.com profile] gingerpook and [livejournal.com profile] gunthar. (I surprised myself by not crying.) It was really good to see them and I'm glad others were there to be supportive and friendly.
We didn't stay there to watch the movie, only for the social time; we moved on to Leora's birthday party. That was fun in a similar vein of pleasant, fairly low key, etc.
From there we went home, and [livejournal.com profile] qubit and [livejournal.com profile] xatharine came to stay with us, and we went out to the nearby wine bar. It's pretty good! I had some interesting wines I hadn't had before and enjoyed being able to get a flight of anything I wanted to sample. Later, I remarked to xat that while we have all known each other since college, we don't regress to college level when we are hanging out; I think this is because we have managed to continue to be in touch and be part of each others' lives on a regular basis since then. This is good.
All gatherings, for me, fell into the category of "good to see people who I haven't seen in a while".

Sunday [livejournal.com profile] qubit had to go to the airport in the morning, but after [livejournal.com profile] xatharine got back from dropping him off she still had time to spend with us. So we went to Pizza Luce for brunch, with bonus [livejournal.com profile] r0ckc4ndy and her fella! And then eventually made it to the Lake Nokomis beach where floaty things were deployed to excellent effect. Xat had to go to the airport herself, eventually, and then we went home, where we had enough time to clean ourselves up a bit before going to [livejournal.com profile] alisgray & her fella's place for dinner. Crab legs! Yum. What a nice dinner that was. And then we got to play most of The Danger Board-game. We almost made it to the gig but then we got sidelined (isn't that always the way?), and I had to go... because the final punctuation of my weekend was a co-op meeting. It went okay but I was not in a good mental space to listen to pontification (however gentle and well meant) about how we all need to work together in a co-op. That's why we were all there! We didn't need it explained. Oh well. The good part is we did get some things done. Now to follow up... but I gave myself permission to wait to follow up until today.

Oh hey, but today my cousin will be visiting! Maybe the follow up work won't happen until tomorrow. We'll see.

B and his college gang absolutely regress at their twice a year gatherings. For them, it's a feature.

K. [glad you had a lovely weekend]

Oooo. Impressive re: college friends. I am seeing a friend from college tonight (met him on my second day living in Leonard Hall) and I'm not sure if we'll regress to a college level or not. I notice this happens with one of my good girl friends from college and with the only other AU '06 classmate I know the city. Its hard not to.

It was nice seeing you at the Riverview, but I regret not taking more time to talk to you more. Would you (and Joe) like to come over sometime soon and make cookies?

I know Ginger misses having the energy to put the kitchen through its paces and would enjoy waving the baton (mixing spoon?) while engaging in some social baking.

Ginger despairs of the food prep skills of her family members. Ginger loves the creative process, while older sis just wants to keep her family alive and full and mom doesn't like spending time or money on stuff you just chew and swallow.

Sharing kitchen shop talk with is something she's never been able to do much of.

That sounds like it would be really nice. I really enjoy cooking/baking with people (even if the other people are just chatty company). Right now the next chunk of time I have free is this Sunday, although Joe will be on a camping trip then. We'd have to look at the next weekend otherwise... let me know what sounds okay. I understand this may change on a daily basis.
