It's been a really good weekend. First of all, it was a long weekend - I took today off since Azure had it off. But even if it had just been Saturday and Sunday it would have been good...

Friday night we met up with friends J & K after work at the near-to-my-job Mexican place and had margaritas and dinner. It was really fun to catch up with them and to have a happy hour. The margaritas were good and the conversation was better! Then we came home and rocked out for a while. Fun!

Saturday we went out to brunch at Asylum (local punk bar/restaurant/local equivalent to the Triple Rock, more or less) and enjoyed ourselves there. It was a beautiful day so the mile walk there (and the mile back too) was really nice. After brunch we wandered around Adams Morgan for a while, I bought a new brocade cloth wallet from a little Tibetan shop, and we ambled home. We enjoyed being lazy the rest of the afternoon, and then got dressed up and met up with friends M & B. Together we headed out to watch the Burlesque-a-pades at the Birchmere. That has become something of a tradition for us, and I love it! So much fun. We rounded out the evening dancing to Britpop at the Black Cat. That was an excellent Valentine's Day - we enjoyed each others' company and did stuff we liked, but did not feel compelled to exchange physical items that were overpriced just for the day and said nothing more than, "Hi honey, I picked this up from a sidewalk vendor a block away! Because I care!"

Sunday was a more productive day but still pleasant. I got up and Skyped with my parents. We had a slow morning and then went to the nearby organic market (also a pleasant 1 mile walk) and got lots of good food there. I made major sewing headway on my wedding dress mockup. I decided to make it an actual wearable dress, so instead of a piece of muslin with lots of lines on it, I have a blue velvet dress on my dress form, waiting to be hemmed! I'm excited about the sewing right now. I did my taxes. Azure planned for his classes. I made a big pan of veggie lasagna and we watched The Celebration for our evening's entertainment. (The movie was good - strange, and rather disturbing at times, but well made and interesting. And I liked the Dogme-film style, actually.)

Today! Ahh, the three-day weekend. Today we continued our decadent sleeping-in pattern, but I did get up and do an hour of Pilates, so that was good. I managed to get out of the apartment just in time to catch the train out to meet [livejournal.com profile] purple_cow_0206 for lunch, where we caught up on a variety of topics including wedding planning and future plans in general and jobs... it'd been too long! I then skedaddled back to DC to watch Coraline in 3D - totally cool! It was really fun to see it in 3D, and the movie (even without the effects) was great - somewhat creepy, entertaining, etc. Somewhat moralistic, but not in a way I found problematic (appreciate your parents! listen to the cat!). I ate a few too many twizzlers but what else are days off for? I did a little bit of work when I got home, we made some food, and now it's time for a bit of Spaced and then Rock Band with friends!
