Since I'm not taking classes, I'm having a lot more fun with the rest of life - including sewing. It's great. I feel excited about sewing again. I've been making things from modified patterns, from patterns I drafted, and making things up as I go along (the sock monsters are very forgiving). I'm all excited about it. I'm currently drafting up a messenger bag and I had a really good time last night figuring out what would need to go where and how exactly I would do it. I'm definitely a sewing geek.

However, I did not get anything sewn at all last night because our apartment was so cold. Now, mind you, here in DC it's chilly but nothing like what the Midwest is facing. And yet, our heat, blowing nonstop (oh how eagerly I anticipate that power bill), is barely able to get the temperature inside our apartment up to 60 degrees. That's not all that cold but it's way too cold for inside my apartment. We had a space heater running last night and put another quilt on the bed, so we slept warm enough, but... the landlord will hopefully come and fix our heat soon. Very soon.

I bet you guys have a heat pump, hu? It's common in the south and can only work well in temps 30 degrees plus. My folks have one and a furnace back up for when it gets colder.... I highly reccomend the wonders of an electric blanket.

I'm not sure what kind of heat we have. (What you describe sounds possible, though...) I do know that when the heat works, it makes a rattling buzzing noise, which we have gotten used to - but which I noticed this morning I had not been hearing. I think that seems to indicate that something that was working isn't any more... I don't remember this problem in previous years. Is it actually colder this year?

It only gets this cold once a year if that around here... I'm glad you are getting your landlord to take a look....

That's too cold for inside, higher DC temperatures or not.

Too cold to sew... Yeah, that's when I get all the ironing done. :-)

My furnace apparently doesn't want to light when the wind is gusting outside. And the repair guys are always telling me it's a "good" furnace.

Hope your heating woes warm up.
