I feel your pain, having lived through several versions of this sort of thing.
If you can swing it throw money at it and hire a plumber. If you can't take yourself somewhere that serves something closer to home cooked meal.
If it's any consolation I owned my first house a year before moving in and then spent 8 years without a kitchen, just remember it could always be worse. Also I have a camping potty you can borrow we had to use it for when our sanitary sewer collapsed and when the toilet ruined the floor under it with a slow leak that damaged the wood floor (to say nothing of actually camping).
