2006 for me

January 2006 I returned from vacation in Belize and went promptly to Minnesota, where I had a bittersweet time visiting Azure's family and the lovely Ms. Rachel. I also plowed into what I thought would be my last semester at AU, and I helped run a successful conference at AU.
February 2006 I struggled to find my way in the school of communication class I took. Eventually this worked out fine but it was an ongoing challenge for a few months.
March 2006 I mourned the passing of Ms. Rachel, and celebrated her life. It was a difficult and many-layered trip to MN. A little later in the month I celebrated my own 30th birthday, which was also tinged by memories of my birthday twins. And at the end of the month I accepted a permanent job at AU.
April 2006 I frantically tried to both do my academic work and learn my new job. It was a stressful month. I went to MN and saw the Rockits win! That was a lot of fun.
May 2006 I was a little more on the ball with my job. I "walked" in SIS graduation even though I hadn't finished my degree yet. I saw many of my friends here move away. But we also made some new friends here.
June 2006 We started getting food from the CSA, which meant periodic mystery vegetables and cooking challenges. I randomly ran into someone I knew from Macalester while I was on the DC metro, which was cool and resulted in some nice socializing while he was here. Our apartment was broken into and some stuff was stolen, but we were not hurt. Now we have an alarm system.
July 2006 I went to CONvergence, of course. I somehow managed to finish the alien costumes for Azure and myself, and I had a blast. I got into biking to work, which lasted about as long as the warm weather did.
August 2006 Work, which had become fairly routine, kicked it into high gear again for the semester. I managed, thanks largely to
maever, who I then had to say goodbye to as she headed off into the wild blue yonder.
September 2006 I kept telling myself things were going to slow down at work and they didn't. I started taking my SCUBA class. I made piddle progress on my paper.
October 2006 I did a lot of cooking and took pictures of it and eventually assembled a cookbook for the CSA. I played with artsy stuff and sewing.
November 2006 I made it a serious priority to finish my SRP. I did so, in December. I busted my butt at work to get a major budgetary project taken care of. I also sewed and stuff. Also, I got SCUBA certified! I can't wait to dive somewhere warm.
December 2006 I finished, finally, my MA. I made it to Michigan and to Minnesota, and spent time with many loved people. I survived.
