Jun. 14th, 2006 09:44 amSo this morning on the Metro, a funny thing happened.
I got on the Metro on my way to work. I sat down in a seat and worked on the crossword, as I do most days, pretty much ignoring everything around me. A little later, a man sat down next to me, stuffed his rollerblades and helmet under the seat in front of me, and pulled out his laptop. I ignored him in the way everyone ignores everyone else on the Metro. Then, a few stops after that, I looked up at him - and he said "Beth?"
It was Michael Bales! I haven't seen him in YEARS (since Mac, or shortly thereafter) and he randomly sat down next to me on the Metro. So he and I had a lovely talk, both a bit baffled at the coincidence. He's in DC for two months doing an internship, and finishing up his PhD at Columbia in New York. I hope to get dinner or something with him while he's here.
How's that for random coincidence? I should pay more attention while riding the Metro.
