The whininess of academic types. The PhD seems to hit some as a promotion to royalty-whose whims must be catered to. Cookies? They're lucky to have *jobs*.
Reminds me of a joke; the class is asked to say what their parents do for a living, and when it comes to be wee Angus' turn, he proudly stands and says "My Mum and Dad run a great big whorehouse!" The teacher is shocked and after the pandemonium dies down, calls Angus' parents. His Mum says "Well, that's what we tell him to tell people. we really run a department at the university, and we think a child shouldn't have to know that sort of thing..."
