Aug. 13th, 2012 09:56 amPeople are awesome and showed up to help - they lifted and carried and drove and boxed and I don't even know what all. We are so grateful to them all. One person even wired up an outlet for our stove at the house, because the existing stove (the one we were moving out) was wired directly into the house wiring. A couple of people got minor injuries, but thankfully I think no worse than a cut that could be covered with a bandaid.
We achieved our goal of moving all of the big stuff (even that $%@! bedframe) to the house, and 95% of the small stuff too. WOW! YAY!
The only thing remaining is that the house is still lacking a toilet... sigh. The tile has to be done behind the toilet before we can put it in, and my father-in-law's tiling work is free, meticulous, beautiful... and slow. So there we are. So we are still sleeping at the loft, on a futon mattress on the floor, and Bagheera is still at the loft, until the toilet gets in. Wish me luck teaching myself to cut tile today, because that's a critical element to me making progress on tile installation this evening! I don't know when my father-in-law will be able to come back, so doing it myself seems like the best option right now.
You'd think, after a huge, exhausting, largely successful moving day yesterday, and a rather exhausting week of house prep and moving prep before that, that I'd have slept well last night. Even if it was on a futon mattress on the floor of the loft, so what? But no. Apparently that was hoping for too much. Oh well.
I will be SO GLAD when this is all done.
