figment: A treewoman, a dryad, her arms are branches (treewoman)
I am surviving my contract job. I occasionally even contribute something useful. But it really is a desperate sink-or-swim kind of thing. The projects change daily – sometimes hourly – and development has been done as such a patchwork for so long that new problems are always coming up, frequently tied to work done months ago. Only sometimes do I really feel like I know what I'm doing and what's expected of me. It's disconcerting.

Also, working a long day with an unpaid lunch break and an hour commute each way in traffic really takes it out of me. I have not been working out at all - too exhausted when I get home, and way too tired to get up at 5:30 in the morning to fit it in pre-work. I hope things I adjust and can begin to fit some exercise in again. I'm happier that way.

It's "treat day" here today, and I'm weak-willed (blame it on sleep deprivation) and ate a half a donut and a whole giant cupcake. I think I am going to be ill... or at least have a major sugar rush/crash.

For RHI's background check (I guess, although you'd think they'd have done that before giving me a placement) I have to list home and work addresses for the last ten years. Ten. This ... is difficult. It makes me grateful that the entire time I lived in DC, all five years, I lived in just one apartment and worked at just one place. Makes that half of the task easier, anyway! But some of my old employers have moved or gone out of business and I don’t have their old addresses. What to do? Punt, I guess.

I played bridge last night, and only screwed up a little bit. It was fun.

[livejournal.com profile] azure_armand is in San Francisco. I am not. This is sad for me. Have fun with him, SF0 peeps!

I'm planning on going to the UniteBike event this weekend. Maybe see some of you there?
